The World in Which I Live

Musings from my life – poetry and prose

This poem I wrote, probably in the summer of 1978, with no surviving written record came pouring onto my head as I woke up a few mornings ago. I’m not sure why I came back into my head, and I’m not sure how complete this is, but I feel the need to put it down. In the 8th grade, I still felt the need to rhyme.

I never knew I loved you
I never knew I cared
Until the day I reminisced
About the things that we once shared.

I never knew the sweetness
Or the smile on your face
until you were gone away
and out of my embrace

I know now that I want you back
Right here by my side
Until the end of the earth
Until the day I die
